Caldon Cottage

Photo: Caldon Cottage, Cromarty

Caldon Cottage comes fully equipped for a self-catering stay. The kitchen is stocked and ready to use, wi-fi and heating are included, and you'll find bed linen and towels already in place. A wood-fired hot tub sits in the large enclosed garden, sheltered by 18th-century boundary walls, while inside a wood burner and comfortable seating spaces mean there's room for everyone to spread out.

The cottage sleeps six across three bedrooms: a downstairs double accessible from the main living space, a kingsize upstairs, and a zip-and-link bedroom. Two bathrooms serve the property, with a large toilet and full bathroom on the ground floor. A Stannah stairlift provides access to the upper floor if needed—just let the owner know in advance. One dog is welcome.

Built on the former kitchen grounds of an 18th-century merchant house, the cottage sits in Cromarty's conservation heart, surrounded by Georgian architecture. The town sits at the mouth of the Cromarty Firth and has reinvented itself in recent years with independent shops, restaurants, a 35-seat cinema and local arts venues. The Cromarty Bakery is just a couple of hundred yards away. No smoking inside the property.

We had the most wonderful stay at Caldon Cottage in Cromarty. The cottage is absolutely spotless, cosy, and clearly cared for with so much love. Loved the hot tub so much! It really felt like a home away from home and a place where special memories are made. Lorna is an amazing host: incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful, with great local knowledge and thoughtful touches that made our stay even better. Cromarty itself is gorgeous! It’s so peaceful, charming, and perfect for scenic walks right on the doorstep. The location is ideal, with Inverness easily accessible by car or public bus in around 45 minutes. We couldn’t recommend Caldon Cottage highly enough and would love to return someday. Thank you Lorna :)

Nice and spacious and cottage. Ideal location as the cottage is about 60 seconds walk from the local store, bakery and the beach. We loved the wood fired hot tub. The garden is enclosed so perfect for the dog. Lorna made sure that we knew to contact her and that she was close by if we needed anything. We found this a really nice base for visiting the area.

Top notch cottage! Highly recommend!! The wife and kids came with me to this fantastic home away from home in the beautiful coastal town of Cromarty! We had such an amazing long weekend here and it was worth every penny. Cromarty holds so many special wee treats, as can be said for the rest of the Black Isle. Although I did find myself wanting to get back to Caldon Cottage for a nice warm evening with the fire on and the wife and kids enjoying the hot tub surrounded by night sky. Planning to come stay here again in the summer to see what delights are in store then!

We had a fabulous week at Caldon cottage. Weather was very kind to us. The cottage was very well equipped. A lovely wood fired hot tub that we managed to use twice. There was also a wood fired Pizza Oven and a wood burning stove in the lounge which we didn’t need to use as the house was really warm with the central heating. Jim and Lorna are a lovely couple, very friendly and helpful if needed but left you well alone for privacy. The cottage was a short walk from the harbour with lovely views. Most of the round about attractions were closed for season but we had some lovely walks which helped burn off the lovely cakes from the bakery shop just around the corner. There is also a very well stocked local shop and post office. Lorna left us a nice welcome pack which had a home made loaf and home made blackberry and apple jam which was delicious. We would definitely recommend this cottage and would love to return although it is a very long journey. Never say Never!! Thanks Jim & Lorna
