Newtonmore sits at the edge of the Cairngorms, a village that serves as a gateway to mountains, glens and the River Spey. The Wildcat Trail, a 7-mile circuit around the village edge, takes in woodland and moorland with views across to both the Cairngorms and Monadhliath ranges. The Clan Macpherson Museum and Highland Folk Museum are within walking distance, along with local shops and pubs.
Cathwill is a detached cottage with three bedrooms and one bathroom, sleeping up to four guests. The layout is straightforward: a living room with Freeview TV opens onto a kitchen with a breakfast area, electric cooker, microwave and fridge-freezer, plus a washing machine for longer stays. Two bedrooms have a king and a double bed respectively; the third contains a single bed. A walk-in shower serves the bathroom. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. One dog or cat may stay, and there is parking for two cars on site.
The cottage suits families and couples exploring the National Park on foot or by bike, or visiting the Wildlife Park at Kincraig and Landmark at Carrbridge nearby. The village centre and a pub are within a mile.

Fantastic cottage with everything you need and more for a great few days away. A cosy place to come back to on a snowy day. Lots of opportunities for visiting close by including the Highland Wildlife Park and the Funicular up Cairngorm. Local amenities in the village excellent including eateries, a couple of shops and a petrol station.

Stayed at Cathwill with my friends so we could hike in the area. It’s perfectly located for all activities in the cairngorms and is super clean, tidy and modern. The beds are also so comfy! Thanks so much!

The cottage was immaculate and very well appointed. Close to cafes and bars, with extensive possibilities for lovely walks direct from the cottage. An excellent location for exploring the Cairngorms, with Fort William and the west coast just over an hour away!

My first visit to Cathwill was fabulous and definitely will not be my last. Spotlessly clean, very well appointed and finished to a very high standard, but comfortable and enjoyable. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. I have already booked for next year. Newtonmore is the perfect base for sightseeing with beautiful scenery nearby. I recommend cake and hot chocolate or soup at the Wild Flour cafe just 3 minutes walk from Cathwill. Clare and William are the perfect hosts.
