The Byre

Step through the door of The Byre and you're in a generous open-plan ground floor that does everything at once. One side is a living room with a wood burner; the other side opens into the kitchen and dining area, where solid wood furniture and a long run of worktops are ready for cooking. The real draw is the wall of glazing that frames the Cairngorms and the golf course beyond—you can eat, sit by the fire, or simply watch the light change over the hills from the sofa without moving. A pair of glass doors lead out to a south-facing decked terrace with garden furniture, where red squirrels sometimes visit the trees at the boundary.

Upstairs, the master bedroom has a king bed, its own bathroom with a roll-top bath and separate shower, and a chesterfield sofa for reading. The twin bedroom has a TV and a collection of books; it too has a private en-suite with shower. The property sleeps four in total. Bed linen, towels, WiFi and electricity are all included. One well-behaved pet stays free. There is parking on site and a small enclosed lawn at the front; the rear garden below the deck is left a little wild to help the bees. The cottage is in Newtonmore itself, so the village pubs and shops are within a short walk. No smoking indoors.
