Cor an Easan

Melness sits on the north coast of Sutherland, where a sandy bay and distant peaks dominate the landscape. A mile away, Tongue village offers a pub, restaurant and shop. The slipway and small-boat harbour nearby draw fishing enthusiasts; permits for salmon, sea trout and brown trout are available locally, and boats can be hired. Horse riding happens at Torrisdale sands. The beach is a short walk.

Cor an Easan is a traditional croft cottage in a hamlet on the coast. Two storeys with two bedrooms upstairs—one double, one with single beds—sleep six in total. Downstairs, an open-plan ground floor combines living, dining and kitchen space around a multi-fuel burner. A second sitting room has a sofa bed. The bathroom has a bath with shower; there is also a separate toilet. The kitchen is equipped to cook proper meals. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are provided. Outside, an enclosed garden has a patio and furniture; bike storage and parking for three cars are on site. One dog is welcome and stays free, though it must be kept on a lead in this sheep country. No smoking indoors.
