Melness Cottage
Highland
Families and small groups of four will find Melness Cottage a complete and private base in the quiet hamlet of Skinnet, North West Sutherland. This traditional croft cottage sits on a promontory overlooking the Kyle of Tongue, with mountains rising beyond and a short walk to the sea. The two-bedroom, one-bathroom layout comprises a double bed in one room and two singles in the other, sleeping adults comfortably. Downstairs are a living room with Freeview television and DVD player, a dining room, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking. A conservatory and enclosed lawn garden complete the ground floor. The property is non-smoking.
Essentials are covered: electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included, along with electric heating throughout. The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, washing machine and fridge. A travel cot and highchair are available on request. Private parking for one car comes with the cottage, and the large lawned garden—bounded by original stone walls—provides outdoor space with seating.
This part of the coast balances remoteness with genuine convenience. The village of Tongue, a short distance away, has a general store, post office, two hotels with restaurants, petrol station and craft shops. A local bar and restaurant sits just half a mile from the cottage. The surrounding landscape offers beaches, harbour villages and mountain ranges for exploring; Ben Hope and Ben Loyal are visible from the property.
