Built as a single-storey lodge, Hawthorn Lodge sits within Resipole Holiday Park on the shores of Loch Sunart, looking out across the water towards the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. Everything happens on one level here: the living spaces, bedrooms and shower room are all ground floor, which makes for easy access and works well for families or anyone preferring not to manage stairs.
The open-plan heart of the lodge brings the living area, dining space and kitchen together, with an electric wood-burner to warm the room in cooler months. The kitchen has a gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher and the basics for preparing proper meals. Three bedrooms sleep six: a double and two rooms with single beds (one room has a shorter single for children). Essentials like heating, electricity, linen and towels are included, along with wifi. One dog travels free; it must stay on a lead throughout your stay as sheep graze nearby. Parking is on site for two cars, with additional spaces a short walk away.
The location draws wildlife watchers year-round. Golden eagles and pine martens appear regularly in the grounds, while seals and dolphins are seen from the beach. Families with young children find the setup manageable, especially with a travel cot and highchair available. Access to the beach and the wild landscape of the west coast makes this a base for exploring rather than a destination in itself.
