Lag Cottage

Dornie is a small village on the eastern shore of Loch Long, in the shadow of Eilean Donan Castle. The surrounding landscape is all mountain and water—the loch stretches inland toward high peaks, and the Kintail Sisters dominate the view beyond. Lag Cottage sits on the water's edge here, a renovated 19th-century croft with its own slipway access to the loch.

The cottage holds two people in a double bedroom and a twin room, served by one shower room. Downstairs, a modern kitchen opens onto views across the water toward the mountains, and a living and dining space centres on a wood-burning stove. Bed linen, towels, and Wi-Fi are provided. There is parking on site, and the enclosed garden gives direct access to the loch shore—useful if you have your own kayak or canoe, or if you want to use the mooring. A slipway in Dornie itself is a few minutes' walk away.

The village has a shop, hotel, restaurant and bar. Walking routes lead into the mountains from the cottage itself, and further afield there are trails in the Kintail area and across to Skye. The Highlands and Islands are built into the geography here rather than being something you drive to.
