Stepps Cottage

Highland

A low-slung detached bungalow built for comfort and accessibility, Stepps Cottage sits on a working croft near Fort William with views across the Caledonian Canal towards Ben Nevis and the Aonach Mor ski range. Everything is on the ground floor: four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, arranged around a central living space that opens onto a garden and patio. The layout means families or groups can spread out without climbing stairs, and each bedroom offers genuine privacy.

The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—electric oven, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine all present—while the utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. A private hot tub seats eight, and the large lawned garden has storage for bikes and canoes. The croft location is deliberately rural but not remote: a shop sits three-quarters of a mile away, a pub and restaurant just 500 yards on foot, and Fort William's pools, restaurants and shops are four miles distant. Nearby activities span skiing and climbing to sailing and hill walking. One well-behaved pet stays free, and smoking is not permitted.

The West Highland steam train (as featured in the Harry Potter films) runs past during summer en route to Mallaig, from where ferries reach Skye and the Small Isles. Glencoe, Loch Ness and the Ardnamurchan Peninsula are all within reach for day trips.
