The Kylesku Kabin

Built in 2016 and designed by architect Helen Lucas Architects, The Kylesku Kabin is a contemporary timber, metal and glass cabin that sits on the Assynt coast in the far north of the Highlands. The structure was created by people with serious hospitality credentials—the owners previously ran the Kylesku Hotel—and it shows in every detail. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms serve four guests, with the main suite offering a king bed, spa bath with chromotherapy and a large walk-in shower. One dog stays free.

Indoors, a utility room near the entrance takes boots and muddy kit straight off the hillside. The cabin is fully furnished with bed linen and towels provided, along with wifi and electricity throughout. You have the whole place to yourself. The location works equally well for walkers heading to Ben More Assynt, Quinag, Canisp or Suilven, and for anyone hoping to spot golden or white-tailed eagles and other Highland birds. Kylesku Hotel & Restaurant is within walking distance for meals, and Lochinver lies 20 minutes away. Ullapool and Durness are under an hour's drive in either direction. No smoking indoors.
