Truim Cottage

Highland

Truim Cottage is a detached stone house built to withstand Highland winters, with thick walls and a woodburner that anchors the open-plan ground floor. The main living space runs from the wood-fired hearth through the dining area and into a kitchen fitted for proper cooking—electric oven, dishwasher, and everything else needed to feed a full house. Four bedrooms sleep eight: a kingsize with ensuite on the ground floor, another kingsize ensuite upstairs, and two further bedrooms with single beds. Three bathrooms mean mornings run smoothly. Heating is oil central; electricity, linen and towels are included, along with the initial fuel for the burner.

The garden is large and enclosed, with a private hot tub that seats five, plus BBQ and furniture for outdoor eating. On-site parking fits three cars and there's an electric charging point. One dog is welcome. The location is Dalwhinnie village, 500 yards from a shop and pub. Cairngorms National Park spreads around you, with Aviemore, Kingussie and Newtonmore nearby for dining or supplies. From here you can reach Fort William, Inverness, Oban and the west coast within reasonable driving time. Walkers, climbers, mountain bikers and skiers find their pursuits within reach; calmer days call for sitting in the garden overlooking open country towards the mountains. No smoking inside.
