What visitors say
Beautiful gardens! Loved the pond and lake, as well as the yew gardens. We went on a very very rainy day and it was still gorgeous. There are lots of steps dotted around the gardens, with some being three steps and others being more (the entrance to the yew trees). I had someone to carry my rollator up the steps while I walked up with my stick, but if I had any powered mobility aids then these areas would have not been accessible to me. The map is well detailed for accessibility. Being a rainy day, we also saw the house. There are a few steps up to the front door, or there is an accessible entrance at the rear. The ground floor is fully accessible apart from one room. They actually have a tablet with pictures of the whole upstairs and non-accessible areas to see! It was so nice to hear about all the details upstairs in the house and also see the photos too! The cafe and shop are also accessible! Lovely collection of plants for sale in the garden shop too!

I had Packwood House on my list of National Trust properties to visit for a while now. Though the app didn’t say the property had EV chargers, the website did. I arrived with 12% charge left and there were EV chargers, and I plugged in my EV. I headed to reception, got my membership card scanned, and got a timed ticket for the house. I headed to the house. This was a wonderful house, I really enjoyed exploring all the different rooms. Though not authentically Tudor, the early 20th century restoration, which is being conserved, is delightful. The upper floors are lovely. I really enjoyed the long gallery and the great hall at the end was unexpected. After exploring the house, I headed back to the café and had the ploughman’s lunch, which was delicious. After eating my lunch and drinking my tea, I headed back to the house, well the gardens. I enjoyed walking around the collection of Yews, and the spiral terrace at the end of the garden was a intriguing surprise. I had a lovely time at the house, and would go again in the future.

I attended Packwood House recently due to being in Solihull for business purposes and decided to make the trip worthwhile by searching The National Trust for anything nearby. To my delight I was only minutes away. When I arrived it was a large car park so plenty of parking. It was sign posted which direction to go so no need to get map apps out and I spent over an hour and a half discovering the history of and saw the restoration that it’s last owner, Graham Baron Ash, had created and left for us to embrace. Before leaving I popped into the Cafe and had a bite to eat and a coffee to refuel before my journey home. Staff are not only knowledgeable yet helpful and an absolute delight. The souvenir shop was also a great touch so spent a little time there too. Overall I enjoyed my first time at Packwood and would recommend this as a great family or friend’s day out.

Very interesting house with not quite the history that you would expect. The lineage over the centuries, is sadly missing. However, you do get a valiant man's effort to retain as much Jacobean items as possible from the demise of such houses, in the early 20th century. It is well worth a visit.
