About Boathouse Hotel Holyhead
The Boathouse Hotel sits directly on Newry Beach in Holyhead harbour, a few minutes' drive from the ferry terminal and station, and describes itself, fairly, as a small and informal family-run business rather than a polished chain hotel. Its 17 en-suite rooms cover single, double, twin and family configurations, newly decorated and simply furnished, many with harbour and sea views.
The kitchen focuses on homemade dishes sourced primarily from local and Welsh suppliers, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options available, and the hotel has picked up a Restaurant Guru recommendation for its food. A relaxed bar and free Wi-Fi throughout add to the low-key, welcoming feel.
Free self-parking, pet-friendly rooms and a genuinely central Holyhead location make it a practical base for ferry travellers, breakwater walkers and anyone wanting to be within walking distance of the town centre and harbour rather than out at Trearddur Bay.

Stopped here after a late ferry journey from Dublin. Great food 👌 rooms basic but comfortable, slightly small but all thats needed for a one nighter. Breakfast was also good, no complaints here. Would definitely use again. 👍

We had a great stay using the hotel as a base for the Holyhead ferry. We had room 18 with a sea view. The room was spotless. We were able to eat & have a drink without going elsewhere after a long day. The menu had great choice and was really good quality. The service was warm & welcoming. We thought our stay was extremely comfortable & really great value. Would highly recommend, thank you!

Absolutely great stay here. Only stopped 1 night as was fishing on the breakwater. It is situated on the water front and a short walk to the breakwater itself. It is about 10 mins to the docks if sailing to Ireland. The staff are really nice and was very chatty and dont walk away when spoken to. The room was a little small but it was ideal for what we needed. There was a kettle, coffee, tea, sugar and milk in the room. The only thing that may have held it back was the price of food. Was quite expensive however was extremely nice, and they stayed open longer then the closing time as we didn't arrive until 5 mins before they shut.

Just arrived home after an overnight stay at The boathouse and can honestly say we enjoyed every moment. The owners went about and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable and even went out and purchased some additional gifts on my partner's request which he paid for on arrival. The room we had was beautiful and had a nice view. Warm and comfortable..everything you need! Food was also really good we had both an evening meal and breakfast with no complaints. It's out of season at the moment for the area but this is the perfect location to go to both north and South stack and even has a beautiful few mile harbour and coastal walk. Parking on site and a few mins walk into the small town. All staff and guest where friendly and couldn't fault the Boathouse, we seen it had 2 star rating on other sites which we honestly cannot understand to why?! We will be visiting again when the better weather and season starts. Thank you to all the staff 😊
