About Greenacres Campsite
Part of a working farm, Greenacres Campsite offers a remarkably secluded feel amid spectacular Oxfordshire countryside, with direct access to Shotover Country Park's vast network of woodland trails and hilltop viewpoints. The former royal hunting ground is a riot of colour in season—bluebells, wild orchids, songbirds and deer—making it a walkers' and mountain bikers' paradise. Dogs are welcome both on site and in the park.
Despite the remote atmosphere, Oxford city centre is only half an hour away, and the number 46 bus stops a short walk from the site. Pitches include electric hook-ups and some with fire pits or even hot tubs, while communal facilities feature a firepit area, barbecue station and hot showers. Campers appreciate the friendly, helpful staff and the quiet, scenic setting, though some reviews mention the facilities can feel a little neglected at times. The nearest shop and several country pubs are within a mile in Horspath village.

What a hidden gem! We had such a peaceful, relaxing stay and didn’t want to leave. The whole site is beautifully maintained, spotlessly clean, and surrounded by lovely countryside. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. If you’re looking for a tranquil escape to unwind and recharge, I couldn’t recommend it more. We’ll definitely be back!

Greenacres was absolutely beautiful camping site. Fantastic views from the camper vans. Wonderful camping bays we had 3&4. Perfect distance from the facilities! Probably could do with more toilets & showers. It would have been wonderful if the shop had been open. Can't praise it enough. The staff were so helpful. Thank you very much.

We are just back from our first stay here and can't wait to return. A beautiful location with great views and a lovely nature walk around the site. We loved listening to the birdsong, especially in the morning. The site is run by warm and friendly owners and team who are always willing to help or chat! The showers and loos were very clean, as was the rest of the site. Great location, with easy bus access into Oxford and a nice pub in the village.

The road to the Retreat is bumpy as mentioned. It’s a shame there isn’t the personal touch of check in, instead, it’s all very do it yourself. Having found our motorhome pitch & plugged our electric in, for an extra cost, I had a look around with our dog. The facility’s are really basic. Not overly clean either. One of the shower & toilet units was out of order. I walked past one of your lodges to be attacked by a dog that ran straight out of the building, I had to pick my dog up otherwise it would have been savaged, not a good start. I couldn’t log in to the electric app, to pay, so sent an email to find out how to settle up. There is no grey water disposal, so was told I could let it run on the grass by the elsan disposal, not very environmentally friendly for a green campsite. Having spent a noisy night because of some extremely loud people in a tent, we were quite pleased to leave really. I will say, the views are wonderful though.
