About D'Oyleys Farm

Wild swimming in Oxfordshire – what a clever notion. D'Oyleys Farm offers a properly laidback riverside escape by the Thames, with pitch numbers carefully managed so guests have loads of room and plenty of peace. Four access points let you plunge into the river for a cooling dip (entry and exit involve a bit of muddy sit-and-slide, but that's half the fun).

A highlight is the little island, where the team has set up a BBQ shack with woodfired cooking stove, deck space and campfire area – perfect for sizzling up supper under the stars. Even better, the farm shop prepares breakfast and barbecue packs with home-produced meat and eggs, easily ordered before arrival. There's a large communal fridge at reception for guest use.

When you crave a dose of city life, Oxford is half an hour by bus from the village fifteen minutes' walk away, or twenty minutes by car. Dog- and welly-friendly pubs are 20-40 minutes' stroll along footpaths, with route details at reception.

We’ve now stayed at this campsite twice and have already recommended it to friends. The pitches are hugely spaced out, so even when the site is fully booked you still have plenty of room for the children to play. The private eco toilets are kept clean and the showers are genuinely excellent. The location is lovely. Stadhampton is a short walk away for any supplies you need, and the real highlight is having access to the Thames right there. We hired a kayak and the kids had a brilliant time on the water. Fi couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. She checked in to make sure everything was OK and was so kind and funny with our children. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a well run, family friendly site with lots of space and a great location with easy access to the river.

This is such a lovely peaceful site! Ideal as a place to get away and enjoy riverside walks and watch wildlife. I enjoyed watching the hare playing in the early mornings and the kites circling overhead. I travelled solo with my dog and felt very safe. The pitches are huge so you’re not close to neighbours and children have plenty of space to play. The owners are very welcoming and have clearly put a lot of thought into providing enough facilities without losing the wild and spacious feeling. I stayed on the hottest weekend of the year so spent my time relaxing in the shade or down at the river but there’s lots of interesting places to visit in the area if you wanted to get out and about. Having said that you probably won’t want to leave the site as there are lots of lovely walks straight from your pitch and access to the river for swimming, paddle boarding or kayaking. The Holt with hammocks, decking and communal cooking area is a clever addition and was a lovely shady spot. The compost toilets are clean and there’s plenty of them although a bit of a walk from some of the freedom pitches - I have a portable potty so this didn’t bother me. The farm shop stocks wood for fires and the farms own meat and has fridge space for campers’ use. All the information you need is up on boards at reception which made everything really easy. I will definitely go back to explore more.

My friends and I have stayed at D’Oyleys Farm three times now. The owner Fi is really friendly and accommodating, offering tips on local pubs and walks. The site is perfect for those looking for basic camping in a beautiful, quiet and laid back spot. The pitches are huge and spread out which is great. Hot showers on site and the eco pitches have their own compost toilets. The Lamb at Little Milton does great food and is 45 mins by public footpath in one direction and there is a great farm shop in Stadhampton in the other. Great hosts, lovely site, highly recommended.

Second time going to this amazing place, and it won't be my last! It is perfect for a peaceful break. I had 5 days basically on my own and it was great. Lots of countryside to walk, ride or run around in. Swam in the river every day to cool off. Fi was very helpful and friendly throughout. See you next time!
