Camping in Kingston upon Hull

Hull itself has no campsites within the city boundary, but East Yorkshire's flat, quiet farmland begins within a few miles of the centre, and several well-established sites make a comfortable base for exploring both the city and the surrounding coast and Wolds. The closest options sit just east of Hull towards Sproatley and Preston, roughly a ten to fifteen-minute drive from the centre, while a further cluster lies around the market town of Beverley, four or five miles north, itself well worth a visit for its magnificent minster and Georgian streets. None of the sites listed here are more than about eight miles from Hull city centre, making a day trip in either direction entirely straightforward, whether that is a morning at the Museums Quarter or an afternoon on the beach at Hornsea.

The three campsites below cover a good spread of styles. One is a small, family-run smallholding with animals on site and a strong reputation for family camping, popular enough to have won national awards for its size. Another is a larger holiday park set within the grounds of a historic country estate, offering everything from simple grass pitches to glamping pods and a well-stocked shop, with fishing lakes and parkland to explore beyond the pitches themselves. The third is a smaller, adults-only site closest of all to the city, favoured by touring caravanners and motorhome owners who want an easy run into Hull without the distraction of a full-scale holiday park. Facilities across all three include electric hook-ups, shower blocks and hardstanding pitches suitable for touring caravans and motorhomes as well as tents, and all sit within the flat, easy cycling and walking country that characterises the Holderness plain east of Hull.
