Photo: The Potting Shed

Huntingdon sits on the edge of the River Great Ouse, with Port Holme—a 260-acre water meadow—and two nature reserves nearby. The Potting Shed occupies a converted barn within the grounds of Grade II* Listed Island Hall, on the outskirts of town. You get the whole place to yourself: a ground-floor bedroom with ensuite, open-plan living and kitchen, plus a first-floor study that works as a quiet workspace. There's a private patio with seating, and access to a shared courtyard garden.

The bedroom has a double bed and heated towel rail. The living space centres on a wood burner with patio doors onto your patio. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker, induction hob, dishwasher and washing machine. Wifi, electricity, bed linen, towels and logs for the burner are all included; parking for one car is on site. One small dog is welcome provided it stays on a lead in communal areas. No smoking indoors.

Huntingdon railway station is within walking distance, reaching Peterborough in 20 minutes and London in under an hour. Cambridge is a 30-minute drive. The property suits couples, those working remotely, or anyone wanting countryside quiet without losing town connections.

Many thanks to Grace and Christopher who made our stay at the Potting Shed Godmanchester memorable. Everything you could possibly need and more was to hand and the Welcome Pack was a lovely surprise. The Potting Shed had plenty of room for a couple, separate kichen/lounge, bedroom and en suite bathroom with a private terrace to enjoy the extensive gardens. Our 8 days was a very pleasant self-catering experience. With a Grocery store and Bakery across the road essentials are easily purchased. Book it you won't regret it

We had a lovely and memorable two night stay at the time of our daughter's wedding in the garden. Quirky and charming building in a very tranquil spot. Generous stocking of the fridge with milk, juice and eggs, and hand-picked weeds for our tortoise!
