Pigeon Coo Farmhouse works well for larger groups or extended families who want their own space. The property sleeps nine across five bedrooms—a double with ensuite on the ground floor, two further doubles upstairs, a single, and a bunk room—plus two bathrooms and a separate toilet. The farmhouse dates back in parts to Tudor times and sits within the Hamstead Heritage Coast, an area of outstanding natural beauty rich in wildlife.

Ground-floor living centres on a sitting room with woodburner, dining room, and a second living space with sofa bed, all opening onto a conservatory stocked with books and games. The kitchen has a full range of appliances including dishwasher and electric oven with gas hob. Beyond the house, three-quarters of an acre includes decked terrace and garden furniture; parking on site accommodates six cars. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included. One dog is welcome at no extra charge. Smoking is not permitted.

The location puts you within a mile of a pub and opens onto woodland walks leading to the coastal paths around Newtown Creek. The Hamstead Heritage Coast offers scope for cycling, watersports, horse riding and fishing. Yarmouth is the nearest settlement, with wider Isle of Wight attractions within driving distance. Check-in is after 16:30 and checkout before 09:30.

We stayed at Pigeon Coo for a week and have so many positives. Firstly when you drive into the road to access the cottage, even though it says dont follow road, keep going! There are two entrances, both very bumpy and muddy. Your sat nav will probably take you down the first turning (hamstead drive) from Newport, its on a blind bend so try not to exit out of this one! When going out you exit the property, turn right onto Hamstead Road and then left for the easier exit. We had 10 sleeping and we all fit with a single bed to spare. Double sofa bed, bunk beds, double on suite downstairs, 2 doubles and one single upstairs. Shower upstairs was amazing, great pressure and temperature. Tv in sofa bed room is like free view channels, main TV in lounge is basic. Very few channels. No access to Netflix, Prime, Disney etc..... . Kitchen is large, enough room on large table for 9 adults. Very small fridge and freezer. Large great garden and washing facilities. If you are bringing children with tablets I THROUGHLY suggest you download things onto it as the WiFi is not great. The best WiFi is in the kitchen. The local areas are really fantastic. Yarmouth is very close, cute village with rocky beach, tour buses and small shops. Antiques, fish and chips, bakery, couple of pubs etc. Colwell beach short drive and that has lovely sandy beaches. Shanklin has sandy beaches, arcades, mini golf, cafes and pubs etc. You travel from one end of the island to the other in less than an hour! There is so much to do and so many beaches. If your coming with children I would highly recommend Shanklin and Tapnell farm. Very, very good value for money. A tour bus to Alum Bay is a must. The needles chair lift is fabulous fun and Alum Bay has lots to do and see. In the IOW be prepared to pay for parking-it is expensive. PAY BY PHONE app in most places.

Excellent secluded location really peaceful and the perfect place to relax. Surrounded by woodland with walks through the surrounding countryside close by. The house it's self is very nice with everything you need including a dishwasher. We had 2 young children in our party and there is ample space for them to play including a large garden to the rear. Comfortable rooms and beds with 2 bathrooms one being an en suite. The only draw back especially when you have teenagers with you is the Internet isn't really any good, but plenty of other things nearby to keep them occupied. Would highly recommend and I hope to return again.

Stayed for a family week this May (2022); secluded surroundings in woodland filled with bird song; a really comfortable house; there were eight of us from 13 years to 72. Close to coastal path(s) and countryside walks and a great centre for exploring the island; there’s even a pub within walking distance! Owner dealt with a small issue promptly and without question. Would definitely return.
