What visitors say
Beautiful little campsite, with many different style fishing lakes. We recently stayed and predominantly fished at Bullock Farm and overall had a good experience, although in our personal opinion it’s more of a relaxing and scenic fishery than an easy place to consistently catch fish. The site itself has a lovely peaceful atmosphere and feels very trustworthy and well run. The lakes are picturesque and the surroundings are ideal if you enjoy slowing down and escaping the busy commercial feel of some fisheries. We mainly fished the carp pool using method feeders with corn, trying both fish-based groundbait and hookbait setups, as well as sweeter banoffee and corn-based mixes. Bread is also allowed on the fishery, although unfortunately that didn’t produce for us either. There were definitely lots of signs of fish activity throughout the lake, but we personally found the carp pool very difficult to fish. We also ended up getting snagged quite a few times which made landing fish tricky in certain areas. There seemed to be several spots where hooked fish could easily get into snags once under pressure. That said, if you enjoy pole fishing and catching plenty of smaller fish, it looks very well suited for that style of fishing and would probably produce much more consistently. The shower and toilet facilities were clean and well kept, although there are only three unisex showers/toilets near the lower end alongside the dish washing station. There are also two additional unisex toilets located near the café, roughly a 400m walk from the campsite area. The café itself was very nice and definitely worth visiting during your stay. We also met the main owner who was extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming which added to the relaxed atmosphere of the site. Overall, well worth a visit if you enjoy peaceful surroundings, camping and a slower style of fishing — just be prepared to potentially wait a while between catches depending on your tactics and conditions.
