About The Dog at Peover
The Dog at Peover is a country pub with rooms in the village of Over Peover, a few miles south of Knutsford, combining a genuine local dining and drinking trade with a small, carefully refurbished set of overnight rooms. The six en-suite rooms, five doubles and a twin, are each individually decorated to a high standard, though all sit on the first floor with no lift.
The kitchen has built a strong reputation locally, and overnight guests have a full breakfast menu included in their stay, served in the same dining rooms used for the pub's wider trade. The rural setting, among Cheshire's Peover villages, gives the inn a genuinely quiet, countryside feel despite being only a short drive from Knutsford.
For visitors wanting a characterful, food-led inn rather than a conventional hotel, The Dog at Peover offers a well-regarded alternative within easy reach of Tatton Park and the town.

What guests say
We went with the family and two dogs and all made very welcome, the team were very welcoming and didn’t rush us at all. Food came and brilliant as usual, absolutely recommend this wonderful pub no matter what day of the week. Sunday roast is exceptional so well worth visiting for that.

We have now returned to The Dog for lunch three Saturdays in a row, which probably tells you everything you need to know! Not only is the location beautiful, but the interiors have been thoughtfully designed and create a lovely atmosphere. That said, we've been lucky enough to enjoy the glorious sunshine recently and have spent the last few visits sitting outside in the fantastic beer garden. The service strikes the perfect balance – friendly, welcoming and attentive without ever feeling stuffy or overly formal. Most importantly, the food is outstanding. I've tried something different on every visit and have yet to find a dish that disappoints. My husband, however, has remained loyal to the steak sandwich every single time because, in his words, it's simply "out of this world" – and trust me, he's a very difficult person to please when it comes to food! We're absolutely delighted to have discovered this gem of a local pub and can't wait to continue working our way through the rest of the menu. Highly recommended

We went for a family Sunday lunch, and it was excellent. I had been recommended to try, and it did not disappoint. Service was amazing, the atmosphrre was calm there was no rush, and the food was top drawer. The locatoon is also perfect, for the countryside pub vibe, with horse riders meandering by, and a lovely outdoor area, with a seperate bar. It is all you could want, if you do not eat, but just want to relax and have a cheeky pint. I think once you see the food on offer, you would change your mind. There is accommodatoon available, and if it is to the same standard as the pub, and rest rooms, then I imagine they should be just what you are looking for. Great ambience, lovely setting, great quality service and food. Would definitely recommend. ☺️

This Dog was a great little find when we were on our way back from the passport office looking for a country pub. We were welcomed as soon as we walked through the door. Seated in a perfect booth where we had privacy but could still see everything that was going on. The place was impeccably clean, nice country/modern decor. They've really created a lovely ambience. The food certainly didnt disappoint either. Had the Chicken Liver Parfait which was another level of flavours. Followed by the steak and ale pie. Both excellent. Vegetables were cooked to perfection and super fresh. Our visit was a wonderful experience all round. Real 'chef' prepared food. Plenty of room in the car park, rest room was accessible. Well done to you all! We will definitely back.
