What visitors say

Alfy Borland

On arrival, we wanted to leave immediately. The site is advertised as a working farm but that did not prepare us for the chickens, geese and ducks roaming the site and making their ‘contributions’ to the ground. Where we originally parked, there were signs that a dog had visited as well. There is also building work going on, which we had been told about in advance but the site would benefit from a significant tidy up. We moved our van and parked up, connecting to the electric hookup with less problems than another couple seemed to have. No designated parking so it’s a bit of a free for all. The facilities are okay. The toilet is rustic but clean. The shower was really good. Wi-fi was patchy. The site is next door to a nature reserve with almost unlimited walking. Points for the shower and the nature reserve. This site is one for an overnight stay, arriving late and leaving early.

Me and my fiancée have just spent the most lovely weekend ever in the cottage at Hawes Villa, being in such a magical place that is Silverdale and in particular the cottage being sat on the edge of the Gait Barrows Nature Reserve combined with the true rustic and romantic feel of the 1869 built converted stable / cottage and the finishing touch being the amazing warm and friendly welcome from Chris & Fiona who just totally make you feel at home away from home. Me, Sam and Tee O loved every minute of our very wet and blustery weekend. The Cottage is like 10 star with everything and more that any person or family would need to enjoy a stay here. The decoration, furnishing and fittings are all sympathetic to the cottage itself and just add to the experience. As for things to do if you want to do things there are plenty from walks, cycling and animals everywhere... everything as it should be. Thanks again Chris and Fiona for giving us memories that will make us smile for ever. Love and wishes Andrew, Samantha and Tee 'O'

Love this place! I my partner and the dogs stayed here for 3 nights in the Jean yurt with hot tub. We had a fantastic stay had everything we needed and more, water supply, composting toilet very close to yurt, kitchen area was great easy to cook any kind of meal, yurt itself very spacious, clean and cosy also had electricity which we haven't had in other yurts with have stayed in. Log burner heated Hot tub was a dream first day took a while to heat but once it did held the heat really well second night we actually had to put cold water in... nothing better with a glass of wine watching the stars. Lots of wildlife and great walks, lots to see around the farm too. Massive thanks to Anna and Stephen for our stay 😘

We had a lovely peaceful night at this little gem of a campsite, yes it's a basic site but at the end of the day your camping. I've seen a lot worse, the toilet and shower are clean, the owners a friendly and the rescue doggo Spud came to say hello but our rescue dog was larger and Spud turned around and wandered off. All in all a great little site
