Capernwray Diving Centre lies within easy reach, and the Lancaster Canal towpath stretches out for walking or cycling. Carnforth itself is close by, a village with real character rather than a tourist overlay. For something different, the Tewitfield Marina where Waterside Retreat sits offers a front-row seat to narrowboat traffic and a genuinely peaceful setting on the water's edge.
The apartment occupies the ground floor, opening onto a private terrace with seating that faces the marina. Inside, an open-plan living space combines kitchen, dining and sitting areas; the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking proper meals rather than holiday beans on toast. The bedroom has a double bed and storage, the bathroom includes a bath with shower, and throughout the place you'll find heating, electricity, bed linen and towels all covered. Wi-Fi is included. Your dog can come with you. The grounds have a sitting-out area and there is fishing available if you have a licence.
This works as a couple's base or a quiet retreat for two, with the sort of essentials—good kitchen, comfortable bedroom, proper hot water—that make a stay feel like an actual home rather than a temporary squeeze. The position by the water means you wake to a different view each day as boats come and go.

We spent 2 nights here as a family of 4 including 2 teens. Wow, what a lovely place with amazing views of the lake. The house itself is beautiful and very well equipped with everything you need. We enjoyed spending time in the hot tub and sauna and just relaxing. We took a walk round Arnside Knott with great views of Morecambe Bay and did the waterfall trail at Ingleton which was only 25 minutes drive away. We would definitely recommend.

A fantastic house, beautifully appointed, comfortable and spacious. Everything was provided including luxury toiletries, towels for both indoor and outdoor use, coffee pods, dishwasher tablets in addition to a really great welcome hamper which included champagne and lots of other treats! The hot tub is huge and overlooks the lake - a lovely way to relax after days out exploring the local area. The host, Liz, was very friendly and helpful and responded to messages very promptly. I can highly recommend this property and will definitely be making a return visit.

Just had the most wonderful weekend at Waterside staying at Liz’s place. The property is beautiful, lovey interiors and has everything you need and more. Lovely touches , welcome pack with Champagne and treats, luxury toiletries, coffee machine with pods and plenty of essentials meaning you don’t need to buy them. The Hot Tub and Sauna on the balcony are gorgeous with a beautiful view of the stunning lake. The beds and bedding gave a perfect nights sleep. The location is stunning and so very peaceful. Located to be able to explore so many different places in Lancashire, the dales and the lakes. Liz is a great host, and nothing is too much trouble. We will most definitely be returning soon.

A beautiful house with lovely views over the water. Stayed here with friends and it had everything we needed for a perfect weekend with extra touches like luxury toiletries and a great welcome pack including Champagne. Very well appointed and comfortable. The hot tub and sauna were great. Will definitely book again.
