I have stayed in Marriott's, Hilton's and The Fairmont's but Amanda's attention to detail make this one of the best places that I have ever stayed in. The single room might be small, but it's completely self contained. It has a fridge, a microwave, a care basket with loads of free goodies, a coffee machine and a kettle. The best part is that you also get a place to sit and have your coffee. The bathroom is on the ground floor, but it is spacious and clean. Even the towels are scented. Amanda and her son have made sure that everything you need is there for you. There is freshness as soon as you enter the room. Since she has also been the councillor, she has wonderful insights into the actual lives and problems of people of Shetland. Her tours are really informative and interesting. Bottom line, I would never book anything else whenever I am in Lerwick.

Amanda is the most welcoming host I could have hoped for. Travelling solo can be a challenge and she definitely made me feel welcome, like I was part of the family. Between the welcoming host, beautiful home and the little things (such as a fully-loaded breakfast basket), I couldn’t have asked for better! Already planning a return trip for a couple of years!

Lovely little guest house/hotel 5 minute walk to centre of Lerwick. Had a great chat with the owner. She is lovely and can recommend lots of bars and places to eat. Will definitely return on my visits to Shetland for work.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Norlande Guest House. My wee room was just perfect and comfy. Amanda was a great host and it was thanks to her recommendation that I went to the "Saffron" Indian restaurant where I enjoyed the best curry I'd had in a long time. All in all a perfect 2 day visit and I wouldn't change one second of it!
