White Horse Holiday Park

Looking through the Google reviews, we appeared to have been a bit more fortunate than the other families and couples that have visited this site, however we were still stung by a multitude of things. This is in no way a luxury place, especially with how much they are charging for a night here. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a gentleman who told us our lodge number, that the hot tub was ready, and that was it. No other information. Key was already in the door (bit of a security issue, in my opinion) and we had to guess where we were to park or what lodge was actually ours. I noticed a lot of rubbish piled up next to the entrance/exit and was extremely glad that we didn't get a lodge near it. My partner noticed a weird smell immediately upon entering the lodge, and the windows and doors had to be opened straight away to try and get rid of it. We had a 2+ hour drive, so my partner decided to lay on the bed and was drawn to the mattress issue of that the springs are felt in every move you make. Not only that, but there is no protector on the mattress, and the mattress itself was filthy... This was nearly enough for us to go back home. The cabin itself is quite dated, the flooring had various rips in it, there were marks on the walls and the bathroom's shower head wasn't even upright, the bracket had broken and no one had bothered to fix it! There were 2 'Happy Birthday' balloons in the wardrobe of the main bedroom from a previous stay, an iron with no ironing board, and a kettle with some random sachets of coffee, sugar and UHT milk cartons... The bathroom wasn't ideal, the toilet seat was definitely smaller than the toilet itself, there were midge flies stuck in the seals of the shower doors and no hand wash?! And there is absolutely no aircon, so good luck if you are here during a heatwave. I'd get more in a hotel room for less money! There is absolutely NO WiFi, the smart TVs barely hold a connection to the site's WiFi which renders them useless as a smart TV which is clearly advertised when you book a lodge. The signal itself was patchy unless you walked outside your lodge and stood there for a bit! We asked the gentleman who 'checked us in' about food in the pub and was promptly told that they don't serve food, but we can get a takeaway delivered by Googling places... They had a wellbeing centre with what looked to be a shop, but that was in darkness and the door was locked. The nearest village was a 5 mile drive back down the incredibly bumpy and uneven road that you have to use to get to and from the site, making us thankful that the car we had driven in was a small SUV. The hot tub was locked at 38c and the jets were definitely not powerful as they should be. Also given the amount of dead flies and bugs that would land in the water whilst using the hot tub, they should be cleaned more regularly or guests should be given nets to try and clear out the insects accordingly. My partner and I made the best of the few nights we stayed here by sheer will and not because the accommodation was 'luxury'. Immediately on our day of departure, we packed our stuff up and left hours before check out because we just couldn't stand it anymore. This site would be so much better if they took care of everything better. The pub on site shouldn't be advertising food on their signage if there's no food to serve, the WiFi issue would be rectified with extenders on site and please, for the love of everything, get better mattresses with protectors on!

Nice relaxing place bit out way down a long bumpy rd so be careful Positives our lodge Comfy bed Clean and tidy Lovely staff Nice pub on site Pet friendly and nice walks NEGATIVES Outside lodge decking could be cleaner Kids park back off pub wants a big tidy up also seating outside on back off pub needs a good clean More pots if more people staying and a frying pan A big brush so could sweep up Maybe a booklet with information in opening times pub/shop and whats nearby and prices off food and drink and whats served in pub easy to do and print out put in a folder in lodges. Hot tubs could also due with a update and cleaning. All in all we had a nice stay and dogs enjoyed it. The staff here are very helpful tho if you need anything.

Went for my mums 50th and i've never been more disappointed in a holiday destination before, none of the tvs have remotes nor work, theres no trays to cook any food on, the hot tub lid has a split in it, under the sofa is full of crumbs & dirt, the wallpaper is scuffed and half off, there are scuffs and marks all over the walls and the customer service is abysmal, don’t waste your time; theres nothing here or around it,the pub that says explicitly that it does food does infact NOT do food, when we was told we would be assisted our troubles nobody came at all, theres no wifi, no signal, literally nothing. id have more fun in a cardboard box. please save your money.

There was a few issues we had with our stay unfortunately, two out of our 3 bedrooms were missing curtains or blinds and the mattresses were terrible no padding at all so basically just sleeping on springs. We were also told our lodge would be riverside and while there is a river the otherside of the road in to the place all you had at the side of the lodge was a ditch with bits of rubbish in it and stagnant water. However the site itself is well kept and the staff were lovely. There is a pub on site which was a nice touch and while we didn't eat there the food looked reasonably priced. One of the great things about this site that we haven't experienced with other Liv retreats sites we've stayed at was the stars, because you are quite remote there is very little light pollution from the surrounding area and this made for a great night sky.
