For a totally free to visit museum this was brilliant. Lots of local history plus some great Egyptian exhibits. The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly the lady on the till/entrance. Glad I dropped in.

A beautiful gothic style victorian Manor house; turned into a museum in 1902. Worth going to just admire the interior of the house. But plenty of displays too. Each room telling a different story. Free entry & free parking onsite too. No cafe facilities.

A lengthy post is ahead. I would like to provide a review of my visit to the Bagshaw Museum today. While taking a leisurely walk in Batley Park with my husband, we observed the museum and, motivated by curiosity, decided to enter and explore it further. The museum offered a compelling collection of historical exhibits, with a particular focus on the history of Batley. Before leaving the museum, my husband needed to use the restroom. We kindly followed the "Toilet" sign and entered the facility. Upon entering, we noticed a group of children aged between 5 and 8 years old. Notably, the entrance to the restroom was located in the same room as the children. While I was waiting for my partner, I was seated beside the toilet door, quietly observing the children’s activities with a friendly smile. At that moment, an English woman wearing glasses approached me and, in a very impolite manner, asked me to leave immediately. She repeated, “CAN YOU LEAVE NOW,” four times in a loud tone and forcely close the door behind me in front of the childrens. That was quite an embarrassing moment, and it made me reflect on how visitors were treated—quite rudely, without even offering an apology for embarrassing me in front of children. It seems clear to me that there may be underlying prejudice. While I deeply respect those who volunteer their time without pay, I believe that such unkind behavior toward someone of Asian descent is entirely inappropriate! i would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Asian colleague with long hair, who, on behalf of her colleague, extended a heartfelt apology following an incident in which I was treated disrespectfully and subjected to embarrassment by other staff members. Her gesture was both thoughtful and gracious, significantly brightening my day and being deeply appreciated.

Great museum located in the upper part of Wilton Park in Batley. It's got good exhibitions on Egypt, Africa, Asia and local interests. Nice place to bring children and then spend time in the park. There's a lovely gift shop and there's plenty of free parking. There's a nice down hill walk through woods to the lower park of part of Wilton Park, when you've finished your visit to the museum.
