About Carmel House
Carmel House suits couples and adults travelling without children who want a straightforward, comfortable base near the Llandudno seafront rather than a full-service hotel. It's an adults-only guest house on Craig-y-don Parade, close to the Summit Complex and under a mile from the centre of Llandudno, with free on-site parking for those arriving by car.
Rooms are clean, bright and modern, with en-suite bathrooms, comfortable beds and showers guests describe as powerful. Some rooms come with garden or sea views, and drinks are available in the room. Breakfast is served, and there's room service alongside 24 hour reception, so arrival and departure times are flexible even if some guests have found the check-in process a bit slow.
A garden gives outdoor space to sit, and the surrounding area offers golf, fishing, watersports, cycling and walking routes, plus pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby. It's generally rated good value for money, with staff singled out as helpful, making it a sensible pick for a no-fuss coastal stay.
What guests say
Stayed at Carmal Hotel for a two-day trip and overall, I would say it was great value for money. The view was absolutely beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. The toilets were okay, and the room was comfortable enough for a short stay. Breakfast was included, which was nice, although I personally didn’t enjoy the breakfast options that much — but it was still alright overall. For the price and experience, I would definitely recommend it for a short getaway!

The room we stayed in was clean and once we’d turned the heating on, it warmed up quickly. When we booked we were told it would be a self check in and they’d send us the code to get in at 3pm on the day of check in. By 4pm we still hadn’t had a message so I tried to contact them but heard nothing back. At 7pm we arrived to find the door open but still didn’t know which room we were in. They eventually answered the ring door bell and told us. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed we’d ever slept in. It was broken and slanted into the middle. We had an awful nights sleep and woke up with bad backs. We went through for the self service breakfast at 09:00am that we were told would include cereals, toast, croissants, fruit and yogurt and would be served between 08:30 and 09:30am. All we found were a couple of boxes of cereal and some yogurts. We went to a cafe instead. We tried to contact Carmel to discuss our stay but again, had no response. We also tried through Booking.com but they had no reply either. Will never stay here again.

The property has a lot of potential, with nice décor, a comfortable bed, and beautiful views—especially at night. At first glance, it appears clean and well-presented, with all the basic amenities provided and a sufficient breakfast included. However, there were several issues that made the stay frustrating. The arrival experience was poor due to slow communication, and we were left waiting outside because access information wasn’t sent in advance. Emails went unanswered, and the contact numbers were not picked up. One number led to a voicemail from a young child lasting around two minutes, explaining that they were “probably busy,” which felt unprofessional and quite unusual. We only gained access because another guest happened to be leaving the property. In hindsight, this was concerning, as it meant we could have been anyone. This was quite off-putting and if I was alone it would have impacted my overall sense of comfort and security. Overall, while the property is attractive, in a great location, and has the potential to offer a really good stay, improvements in cleanliness, communication, and host presence are needed to meet expectations.

Great place, rooms clean, tidy and well equipped. Very helpful staff. They have gluten free options for breakfast, which is fantastic
