What guests say
Checking in at the reception (first floor) went well and the receptionist was very friendly! The room was spacious and clean, but bit dated. Unfortunately, there was no air conditioning (which i guess you normally don't need much in Ireland, but it was warm that weekend). The room was warm and the window could only be opened a few centimeters. The bathroom was also bit dated, but clean. After a night out, we returned to the room to find the toilet clogged. Despite the late hour, the receptionist quickly resolved the problem. Location is great. Everything is within walking distance (however, the presence of the day drinkers directly across the street is a pity). The breakfast was good and sufficient. Altho i would've preferred something savoury rather than marmalade and Nutella. But I do think that if I had asked for it, they certainly would've provided it. The swimming pool was not very appealing, so we skipped it (tip: you are required to wear a swimming cap!). The gym looked good! Unfortunately didn't have a chance to try it. Overall i will visit again!

We came for the foyle maritime festival and we're delighted to be upgraded to the top floor, such an amazing spacious room with a great view. However we did have a shower which flooded around the toilet and a nearly blocked sink which made the bathroom hazardous especially as my partner has mobility issues but it was only for the one night. We extended our stay however instantly regretted it as we had to move to a standard room, it was all that was available. Extremely unhelpful reception team were not in the least bit interested in our requests for a room near the lift, a walk in shower if possible as a bath us useable and as there's no AC in the room, a fan. Very disappointed and can't wait to see if improvements are made to both the hotel as a whole but the staff as well. Celebratory stay was let down overall sadly

The food service managers were outstanding - the housekeeping, not so much. We had to ask several times over multiple days to get any bath soap. The facility staff did respond quickly and brought me a power strip with a long cord, since there were NO receptacles by the beds. Oh, and there's no air conditioning, despite the thermostat on the wall...

The hotel was undergoing renovations, which in itself was understandable. However, it wasn’t the renovations that were the issue — it was the overall standard of service and the experience. Check-in was advertised as 3pm, yet our room wasn’t ready until close to 5pm. We were travelling with two small children who were excited to use the swimming pool and became unsettled during the long wait. It was a very poor start to our stay. After swimming, we returned to the room to find there was no hairdryer, despite rooms being advertised as including one. There was also no shampoo, conditioner, or soap — only a few bottles of body wash. Basic amenities were clearly lacking. Dinner service was completely unacceptable. The restaurant was not busy, yet there were massive delays between courses and long waits for plates to be cleared. With two children, this made the experience even more frustrating. We had to approach staff twice to ask where our dessert was, as they were avoiding eye contact and not acknowledging guests. On departure, only one lift was working, leading to large queues to access the underground car park. To make matters worse, despite booking and paying for parking via the hotel’s own app, I have now received a parking ticket. I have emailed the hotel regarding this as well. Given that I have already emailed about the above issues and only received an acknowledgement saying it was being passed to the Operations Manager — with no further response — I am not confident this will be resolved either. Overall, this was extremely disappointing. What should have been a mid-term family break turned into a frustrating and poorly managed experience. Unfortunately, we would not return.
