About Alvingham Lakes
Tucked into the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, Alvingham Lakes is first and foremost an angler's retreat – two well-stocked lakes brim with carp, bream, tench and the odd surprise catch, drawing dedicated fishers from across the region. But even non-anglers appreciate the peaceful, wildlife-rich setting: herons stalk the margins, moorhens potter about, and the whole site hums with birdsong. It's tiny and deliberately low-key, with just a handful of electric grass pitches, basic facilities (toilet, shower, handwashing) and a self-service café for hot drinks and snacks between sessions.
The Georgian market town of Louth sits three miles away for proper supplies and good pub meals, while some of Lincolnshire's finest sandy beaches lie a short drive east. Dogs are welcome year-round, and the village social club is an easy stroll for a pint after dark. Expect uneven, sometimes gravelly ground and a genuinely remote feel – this is a place that prioritises tranquillity over polish.

What visitors say
We have been home just over a week and can't wait to return soon. Ian and Terri are fantastic hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. My wife and I had a caravan for one week and wish we had booked it for more nights. The caravan was spotlessly clean and they left us a few bits to help us ( milk, tea, coffee, kitchen roll, biscuits etc). It was a very hot week and there was even a oscillating fan in the caravan which was a much relief from the heat. The fishing 🎣 was excellent and we were catching plenty of nice carp all to double figures. We could leave our fishing gear out all the time and had no problem with other people. We enjoyed it so much that we have booked for 10 nights next May 2026. Whilst staying at Alvingham we met some nice people. 👌. Looking forward to seeing you both again in October. P.S. many thanks for the birthday card and cake 🎂 Terry and Joyce

We spent two nights in one of the caravans and it was an absolutely brilliant experience. The site is run by a lovely, helpful couple who go out of their way to keep everything spotless and ensure that the surrounding nature remains beautifully clean and well cared for. There are two ponds on site, absolutely teeming with fish – a true paradise for anglers of all levels, from beginners and children to seasoned pros. The waters are very productive, and the fish are in excellent condition. Adding to the charm, the grounds are full of life: chickens, ducks, geese and even sheep roam freely, and you’ll spot colourful parrots that are a real treat for both the eyes and ears. Overall, we had a fantastic stay. The atmosphere is peaceful, cosy and surrounded by greenery and animals. Truly something special – highly recommended!

Ian and Teri are excellent hosts on this small but perfect camping/campervan/caravan or one of the fixed mobile homes on this site. The small but perfect grass pitches with hookups and water and chemical waste disposal sit along side one of two well stocked fishing lakes in a beautiful setting, with parrots, ducks and chickens of all sorts and pigs and sheep and loads of wildlife with Cockatiels (Sammy and Bunny) and Budgies and finches coming soon. Dogs on leads are welcome, small children need to be with a grown up at all times but will love it here. I can’t recommend this site enough, I love it there. Steve and Joy.
