About The Charlton Arms

The Charlton Arms stands beside Ludford Bridge at the southern edge of Ludlow, with a terrace and several bedrooms looking straight up the River Teme towards the castle. The inn holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its cooking, alongside AA five-star inn accolades, putting serious food at the centre of a stay here.

Bedrooms are stylish and individually decorated, several with the same river and castle views as the terrace below, and the pub itself serves food and ales throughout the day from late morning until late evening.

Its position just across the bridge from the old town means the castle, church and market square are a five-minute walk away, while the inn's own riverside setting gives it a quieter, more scenic feel than staying in the town centre proper.

Had dinner with friends last night. This is a wonderful restaurant. We were a group of five and all made different choices from the menu. I had the beef rigatoni which was absolutely delicious. The staff are friendly and attentive. A truly enjoyable experience for everyone. The location with a view of the river is delightful too. I would really recommend.

Everything about this hotel was spectacularly good. We had a newly refurbished suite with a balcony which looked directly out over the magnificent river. I got up in the morning to see a beautiful blue Kingfisher flying across the stream. We ate in the restaurant twice. The food is of a particularly high standard, even for this ‘foodie’. town. The staff were friendly and helpful. 10 out of 10 from me.

Lovely hotel with nice rooms in a fantastic location on the river. Weather was glorious so we sat outside on the roof terrace to eat, with that marvellous view over the river and the town. Food is excellent and I’d strongly recommend - I have been before with family. Had excellent pork tenderloin with a mustard sauce which was very tasty. Looking for an excuse to go again. Great place, very friendly service.

We hiked here for lunch on a recent Bank Holiday Monday. Trade was busy but not exceptionally so , creating a nice atmosphere. The weather was nice enough to have pre lunch drinks on the terrace overlooking the river here in Ludlow. Fabulous views across the river, town and countryside beyond. Attentive helpful staff. Lunch arrival time was staggered to ensure everyone gets fresh, hot food. The menu is individual and lots of interesting, different choices. Also some staples like fish and chips. All of our choices were tasty and well presented with fresh vegetable side dishes. Great value for money. Wine list is also well priced and some interesting different wines
