Working-farm camping on the edge of Mortimer Forest, three miles from Ludlow
About Monstay Farm Campsite
Monstay Farm Campsite spreads across three fields on a working farm near Burrington, with Mortimer Forest's trails starting directly from the campsite boundary. Rather than numbered pitches, campers choose their own spot—open ground for families and groups or quieter hedgerow corners for those after more privacy. The site takes tents, caravans and motorhomes, with electric hookups available and a relaxed approach to campfires and barbecues in designated areas; firebowls can be hired and firewood bought on site. The lack of nearby street lighting makes this a genuine stargazing spot on clear nights.
Dogs are welcome but must stay on leads given the working farm setting and grazing land. Facilities lean towards the practical rather than comprehensive—showers, toilets, drinking water and W.C. disposal but no on-site shop or WiFi—so this suits campers happy to swap conveniences for a properly rural pitch. Ludlow's market, pubs and shops are three miles away when supplies run low, but the real draw here is immediate access to Mortimer Forest's walking and mountain biking routes without needing to pack up the car.

What visitors say
We had a wonderful stay at Monstay Farm Campsite — one of the most authentic and peaceful campsites we have stayed on. The setting is beautifully quiet, surrounded by nature with superb views both east and west, and it catches the morning and evening sun beautifully. The shower, toilet and washing-up facilities were all spotlessly clean, with plenty of reliable hot water. The owners were very friendly from the initial booking onwards, and especially kind and helpful during our stay. They let our little toddler visit the farm areas to watch the animals being fed, which was a real highlight, and they also very kindly lent us a powerful battery pack to help start our van after a flat battery. A genuinely welcoming and relaxing place to stay — we would happily return.

A gorgeous campsite a 10 minute drive outside of Ludlow. Stayed with a group of 9 friends over a bank holiday for my birthday and we had a lovely time. We had a quiet corner of one of the fields and were lucky to have a beautiful view of the hills too. The facilities were great and well kept and Angela and Les were super friendly and helpful when it came to any questions we had! Would definitely recommend and will be returning soon.

If you love a big open sky with amazing views to go with it, this place is for you. They cater for Motorhomes, campervans and tents, lots of EHU around the site, Hardstanding, field for camping and also shepherds huts. You are very closed to Morpeth woods and a 3.2 mile walk into Ludlow, which is a beautiful place to visit.

Lovely traditional site with stunning views and plenty of cycling tracks in the forest. Les and his wife are on hand to help and are a warm friendly couple. The toilets and showers were plenty good enough for our needs and would gladly recommend this site and are already planning our next stay here.
