About Midsummer Caravan and Camping

Set near High Marishes, Midsummer Caravan and Camping occupies a handy spot for exploring Malton and the surrounding attractions. The site offers 20 non-electric grass pitches and 15 electric hardstanding pitches, welcomes dogs, and unusually allows campfires – a nice touch for those who enjoy an evening around the flames. The toilet and shower facilities have been modernized, which regulars appreciate.

That said, the site can feel a little neglected in places, and some visitors report issues with discolored, smelly water – worth noting if you're particular about on-site amenities. There's no drinking water or WiFi, so come prepared. Open year-round, it's a straightforward, no-frills base if you're after easy access to North Yorkshire's countryside without too many bells and whistles.

Hard standing pitches are fantastic with a park for the kids to play and the park is in a great location if you fancy a drive out how ever, the facilities are an absolute disgrace!! says drinking water on the tap and the water is like milky coloured with a foul eggy smell, there was a swamp of mucky water right next to where the kids played! After showering i felt slimey I spoke to a couple of people on the site and they said the same thing! All sorts was coming from the shower plug. They is a guy who works on the site that is in a small caravan right next to the shower/toilet blocks we tried to let him no on many occasions but he said he doesn’t speak English, although he managed to get the gas man out as we had no running hot water for a full day!!

The one star is for location of this campsite, it is in a beautiful area but I will not be going back to it. Firstly it says drinking water but the water from the taps and in the showers is a milky white colour which we did not drink. We went out and bought bottled water instead. Secondly the showers and toilets are an absolute disgrace, they need knocking down. They are dirty, in one of them the toilet was flushing up into the shower tray and also there aren't enough for the size of the site. Thirdly, no one is there to monitor the noise levels at night, music blasting and people shouting until the early hours. There is supposed to be a warden but we never saw them during our two night stay. It could be a lovely site but I think the owners are more interested in their pods/cottages. We couldn't wait to leave.

Such a great location and a tidy hardstanding for the camper but the praise stops there. There was no welcome by staff , if there are any?. We telephoned to say arrived and we're "acknowledged".knew our pitch so parked up and set up....once set up we used the tap on the pitch which produced a foul smelling milk coloured water which we didnt dare use, so wandered over to the toilet/shower area which can only be described as horrendous only 3 toilets and 4 showers , one of which- as soon as you flushed the shower tray filled with toilet matter😞. They were filthy and occupied by many bugs and slugs and spiders..No where near enough amenities/facilities for the size of the site...disgusting is the only description..... now the site itself. The hardstandings are perfect but the camping area is a free for all , firepits are welcome but with the tents less than 12" or a foot apart it's only a matter of time before an accident occurs. It is without doubt the noisiest campsite ive ever had the misfortune to stay at...I love my music but this was like a rave/concert all day long . ..there is no warden and the music last night went on until 3am. Cars headlight shining most of the night and kids of all ages screaming ,shouting and crying ...adults swearing and shouting and drinking .... no consideration for anyone else on the site, and no intervention from the owners who i can only assume are off site.... I would only recommend it if you are ferrel with no need for a relaxing time...

Severe health hazard. Stayed at Midsummer Caravan and Campsite recently. The site itself was well kept, tidy, and in a great location for families, especially with the play park which was ideal for kids and kept them entertained throughout the stay. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the water situation. There was effectively no usable running water, and the only source labelled “drinking water” appeared to come from a stagnant storage tank. The water was milky in colour and had a strong smell similar to a dead animal, making it unusable for drinking, cooking, or washing. It’s a shame because the campsite itself has good potential and the grounds were clearly maintained well, but access to clean and safe water is a basic necessity and really let the experience down. I hope the issue is resolved quickly because otherwise it could be a lovely family campsite.
