About Lickpenny Caravan Club Site

Lickpenny Caravan Club Site sits on a former sixteen-acre plant nursery above Tansley, around three miles from Matlock Bath and within easy reach of Matlock and Bakewell. Mature trees and established rhododendron planting give the site a sheltered, landscaped feel—a legacy of its nursery days rather than the open farmland typical of many touring parks in the area.

Taken over by the Caravan Club in 2024, the site now offers more than 120 hardstanding pitches with sixteen-amp hook-ups, including fully serviced pitches with water and drainage. Two centrally heated toilet blocks, laundry facilities, a vegetable prep area and EV charging points reflect the thorough recent refurbishment. There's a children's playground, a woodland walk through the grounds, and dogs are welcome on leads.

The site takes touring caravans and motorhomes but not tents. Its position just off the A615 makes it a straightforward base for exploring Matlock Bath and the Derwent Valley without navigating narrower lanes closer to the village itself.

This is such a great site in a lovely location kept very well , clean facilities and overall clean site with dog walking on site so a bonus if taking dogs. Spacious pitches easily enough with awning and still have room. Nice modern electric Hook up so had no issues with the site itself. Our issue is with staff /team on site from first greeting did feal abrupt but thought nothing of it and was told to drive through and find a pitch and report back to the office. We have a campervan and wanted to make sure we checked in prior to leaving site to meet up with Family and know where our pitch was for the night . Around 1 hour later we had a call from Andrea advising us our pitch had been taken and we need to go to the pitch next to it as we had not left anything behind on the pitch ? All pitches have numbers and fobs have them also a large board in the office reference to numbers so I would assume as you get allocated pitches they know where you are?? We had been told should have left electric hook up behind but as every always states ... " left at owners risk " but thought ok no issue as was told the pitch next to it was being saved for us with a cone and to swap fobs in the morning so agreed no problem and take it on board. Continued with our evening out got back to the site and wow .. the pitch next to it was also taken ??? ... so I guess even a cone they should have put out didnt work either. The following morning we had a call from the office as we had pitched up on another pitch but to go to the site office to sort the fobs out. So we arrived at the office to discuss the issues but was meet with one of the team called Mark and after discussing our issue made it as it was all our fault and this has never happened before ( although I could buy a board that is displayed /left behind on pitches ?? ) so I clearly pointed out we had been offered the pitch next to the one we chose and a cone put on it. when we returned this had also been taken but strangely enough he had no response other than we can keep going round in circles.... it would.seem customer service was not avalible on this day but the customer is at fault . We would love to use the site frequently but due to the way we had been treated would find it difficult to return. I can understand if we made the mistake initially but with the continued mistakes find it a little disrespectful being treated like this . We hope others have better luck than us and maybe a bad weekend for us. Good luck 👍

Love the site lovely big pitches. Nice park for children. Dog walk and gated area so you can let them off lead. Only down side and it's not really a problem are toilet block very small with 3 showers 3 toilets and communal sinks no private cubicles. Wardens are lovely and very helpful

This is a lovely site; spacious with well laid out pitches and gorgeous views of the Derbyshire dales. All the pitches look good. As with all Caravan and Motorhome Club sites, the toilet blocks are clean and well maintained.

A great site with all you would expect from a camping and motorhome site, as for location there a garden centre minutes away but to get to matlock on public transport you need to walk to the main road. If you want to walk there's not a direct walk to matlock hence the 3 stars on location. No WiFi on site just at the office.
