About Runnis Meadow Camping
Tucked beside the River West Onny near the Welsh border, this intimate site is a dream for anyone keen to explore the Shropshire Hills on two wheels or on foot. Mountain bikers can strike out for the challenging routes at Carding Mill Valley and Long Mynd (half an hour away), while walkers have Offa's Dyke Path and Corndon Hill within easy reach. The rugged quartzite outcrops of Stiperstones National Nature Reserve are 15 minutes' drive, where red kites and skylarks circle overhead.
With just a handful of pitches, Runnis Meadow keeps things peaceful and simple. Showers, fresh water and a toilet block cover the essentials, while firepits and barbecues help make evenings memorable. The nearby market town of Bishop's Castle (10 minutes) offers shops, restaurants and takeaways, and there are good pubs dotted around for refuelling mid-adventure. Dogs are welcome year-round, adding to the site's relaxed, outdoorsy appeal.

Gorgeous spot, really quiet, basic amenities, running water and a chemical toilet, amazing scenery would highly reccomend! If you come on a wet day, be aware when you leave you need to drive up a slippery grass hill, saw others struggle with it, just take it at as shallow an angle as possible as you drive to the gate if you don’t have 4x4

This place is beautiful. We were honoured to be customers on their first day of opening the campsite. As described, the site is very basic with the only 'Mod Cons' being a portaloo and a running tap at the end of the field. For those who want a wild camping experience, this is as close as you can get to it in England without being illegal. The family that run it are lovely, very helpful and friendly. Prices are great (I think they could charge more just for the view). Jeff (The terrier) had a great time.

What an amazing place Ronnie and Amanda are absolute stars can’t do enough for their wild campers we will definitely be back for another stay with these one off sunset views . Priceless!
