Couples and small families looking for somewhere quiet will find Healair works well. This single-storey architect-designed house sits on three acres of croft land in Aird, a coastal village on the Isle of Lewis, with uninterrupted sea views and a gated route through the grounds onto the coastal path. The whole property is yours alone, with parking for three cars and a raised decking area looking out over the water.
Inside, everything is on one floor. There are two bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed and ensuite, one with two singles and access to a separate shower room—both with their own televisions. The open-plan living space has vaulted ceilings, a woodburning stove (initial logs supplied), and a 50-inch Smart TV. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and washing machine, plus a drying room with ceiling pulley and shelves—useful on the Hebrides. Essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered. The house uses air-source and solar-powered underfloor heating.
Stornoway, the main town, is nine miles away with shops and Lews Castle, whose grounds have woodland walks and a museum displaying some of the famous Lewis Chessmen. The area suits walkers and those wanting to explore the Outer Hebrides at a slower pace. Note that the property is not suitable for children under 10 due to steep slopes, ditches and nearby cliff drops. No smoking.
