Haven't done a cinema review for a little while. Built in 1938, re-opened in 2014, now operated as part of the Picturedrome Cinemas chain and thus is that chain's only venue in the entirety of Wales. Despite many people being under the illusion that this is a small local cinema, it is in fact a five screen multiplex that is very much part of a chain. Screens 1, 4 and 5 can be found on the ground floor (there are a couple of stairs to go up in order to access them, though a starlift is also available). Screen 1 is down a long corridor and can be reached through two sets of double doors, one set on either side of the auditorium. Screens 2 and 3, being upstairs, are non-accessible to wheelchair users. Screens 1, 4 and 5 all have wheelchair spaces. The sound is good depending on where you sit - if you can manage to grab a seat within the fourth row and as close to the centre of the screen, then you'll find yourself in the prime place for the acoustics on offer here. However you'll also probably find yourself sat on my lap. Toilets are clean and regularly checked, all the usual cinema merchandise is on offer as and when it's available - popcorn buckets, souvenir cups etc - along with a few other bits and pieces that perhaps other chains *won't* have available. And all are rather reasonably priced too. Oh, and the Picturedrome Cinemas advertising before the film is provided by DCM, the same company that provides advertising to Cineworld, Vue and Odeon - so if you're one of those people that likes to get their freak on and have a jig whenever THAT music plays, then you're in luck. Pictures are of Screen 1 (the big one), Screen 2 (showing Wicked For Good) and Screen 3 (showing Now You See Me, Now You Don't). As well as a photo of the exterior, of course.

Would give five stars, it deserves it. It’s not expensive and it’s kinda old fashioned feeling, so if nostalgia is your thing, it’s a great place. Seats are super comfortable but ok. My gripe with this cinema is kinda with the ticket prices and ads. The price is cheap so it’s going to have a lot of ads, but 30 mins of adverts is really too much. Show as supposed to start at 7:30, so with 30 mins of adverts you get out at 10:20. That’s a ridiculous amount of time to spend in the cinema not actually watching a movie. I’d rather pay and extra quid.

Nice cinema with very pleasant staff. A little worn around the edges but comfortable and very reasonable prices. Plenty of parking just over the road which was again reasonably priced. Well worth the 20 minute drive for us to get there.

A lovely, quaint cinema. Ideally located on the High Street with nearby pay and display car park (free after 6PM). Five screens. Comfortable seating. Superb value at £5 a ticket, you don’t get an electric reclining chair like at e.g. Showcase cinema but does that really represent value for money?
