About The Beresford Hotel
Breakfast and evening meals at The Beresford Hotel come with a view worth lingering over, the restaurant and bar looking out towards Tolcarne beach along Narrowcliff in Newquay. Packed lunches can be arranged for days out along the coast, and drinks can be brought straight to your room, which suits guests who'd rather not head out after a long walk on the cliffs.
Rooms are en-suite with free WiFi, and a lift serves the upper floors, though some rooms show their age and could do with more upkeep. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, which goes some way to balancing the tired décor in places.
The seafront setting puts golf, fishing, cycling and walking routes within easy reach, along with watersports for those keen to get into the water rather than just look at it. Pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby mean there's plenty to fill an evening beyond the hotel bar.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Me and my friend booked a one night stay here so we could attend an event down the road. However - ended up leaving without As we entered the building, the doorway was littered with rubbish and the reception area had graffiti over the walls as if a three year old had been given a crayon and left to draw at free will. As we moved to the stairs, the lamp shade was broken and wires were exposed at the fitting. We also overheard others stating at the hotel warning each other not to use the lift as it was broken and also heard their own concerns about their rooms as they made their way back to reception to complain. Upon entering our room - it was disgusting. We had booked a twin room however the reality was far from the photographs as advertised. One of the beds was broken at the frame, both beds had a sheet thrown over the top which attempted to resemble a fitted sheet however both looked as though they had already been slept in. The carpet was covered in stains - varying in colour and these extended onto the walls. The picture on the wall was at an angle, and the curtains were hanging off the rail. The paint was coming away from the radiator, and in all of the drawers there were crumbs from some form of food that had been consumed by the last visitor. There was no kettle, TV, hairdryer as had been advertised - and the room was extremely hot (no air con) - considering that this was one of the cooler days in the break of one of the many heatwaves we experienced this summer. There were no towels provided, and the bathroom door did not shut properly too. When we went back down to reception to complain - we were offered a sea view room however - we lacked total confidence in what difference a new view would make - and having seen the other reviews - we are glad we left. We will be chasing a refund, however want to make sure no other individual makes the mistake we did in booking this hotel - a completely dire establishment.

Hotel is clean and in an amazing location. The hotel staff are friendly and professional. The room is very clean and tidy. The concierge Omar is very polite, welcoming and gave me a warm welcome and explained everything about the hotel and the surrounding restaurants and cafes. Love my stay here I highly recommend. I can hear the waves from my room. This place is amazing. Thank you to all the staff for your hard work I really enjoyed my stay.

I would rate this hotel one star, and even that is too generous. I feel we were misled when we booked; the photos did not match reality. We were shocked upon arrival: the room they gave us was incredibly small and had a disgusting view, and the lights didn't work. We asked to change rooms and were given a slightly larger one with a more spacious bathroom, but the floor was unclean. The room was cluttered with bulky chairs that made the space feel cramped, and there was a broken window that we had to manually close. The bathroom was good and clean, but there was no fridge—an essential item for any room. The fan blew only hot air and was completely ineffective.

Unfortunately we didn’t have a good experience in the hotel. The room was hot no air con just a fan that admitted more hot air than cool let alone the conditions of the walls were moldy could use a fresh coat of paint. Staff weren’t welcoming didn’t seem to care when leaving you to wait around while there is multiple staff available to help. The only thing good about this hotel was that we could walk down to the beach.
