About Maesmawr Farm Resort

Tucked between Snowdonia National Park and the Shropshire Hills, Maesmawr Farm Resort proves you can have dramatic mountain views without sacrificing level, comfortable pitching. Accessed directly off the A470, this family-run Powys site makes customer service its hallmark—guests consistently praise the friendly, helpful team and the resort's excellent value. The amenities are immaculately maintained, including a centrally heated, double-glazed shower block (added in 2016) with wheelchair access and non-slip flooring throughout.

Outdoor enthusiasts are spoilt for choice, with National Cycle Route 81 and the Severn Way on the doorstep, plus a nine-hole golf course with floodlit driving range just a stroll away. Caersws village, half a mile off, offers three pubs, a butcher, and local produce shop, while the Mid Wales Arts Centre sits five minutes' walk from the farm. Some visitors note the site can feel a touch dated in places, but the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, and warm welcome more than compensate. Newtown is 10 minutes' drive.

I was quite disappointed with our stay at Maesmawr Farm Resort, as it didn’t live up to the expectations created by the website and photos. The biggest issue was that the accommodation felt much smaller than advertised. The wide-angle photographs are very misleading and make the lodge appear far more spacious than it actually is. I would strongly recommend that the resort provides a proper floor plan instead of relying on distorted images so guests know exactly what they’re booking. The bed was another major disappointment. It was advertised as suitable for two people, but in reality it was barely larger than a single bed. It was so uncomfortable and cramped that I ended up sleeping on the sofa for the entire week, which is certainly not what you expect from a relaxing holiday. The lodge itself was also looking quite tired. There were numerous scruffy areas where paint was peeling or marked, giving the impression that general maintenance has been neglected. A fresh coat of paint and some attention to detail would make a huge difference. My biggest gripe, however, was the jacuzzi. It had an unpleasant smell, the water contained dead flies, and overall it looked dirty and uninviting. We asked reception if they had a net so we could remove the debris ourselves and were handed what looked like a child’s fishing net, which wasn’t suitable at all. Considering the jacuzzi is one of the main selling points of these lodges, this was extremely disappointing. We also asked if it would be possible to pay for an upgrade to a larger lodge, but were told the resort was fully booked. This didn’t seem believable, as throughout our stay we noticed multiple lodges sitting empty with no guests in them. Customer service wasn’t particularly impressive either. Reception was advertised as opening at 9:00am, yet on one occasion nobody arrived until around 10:00am. To make matters worse, the advertised 24-hour helpline didn’t work when we tried to use it. Overall, I left feeling that the resort didn’t match the expectations it creates online. With more honest advertising, better maintenance, cleaner facilities, and improved customer service, it could be a much better place to stay. I also forgot to mention the flies, swarms of blue bottle flies… after I told them the bins needed emptying the flies dramatically decreased

Lovely little pod, everything you need, perfect for 2 people. Lovely hamper on our arrival, chocolate, popcorn etc Hot tub makes it, lovely and hot although massage jets not powerful. Accommodation clean. Sofa bed not comfortable to sit on as a sofa or a bed. With that being said I would stay again.

Lovely little break away in a very good location. Only 1 hour away to get into Snowdonia national park & I have attached some images from the slate mine that we took & also another from Elan Valley which is only around 30 mins away from the park so there is plenty to do & see. The park was extremely clean as though its not been long open & the staff were friendly. Great hot tub very clean & perfect temperature everyday we got it in. A stone throw away at the other side of the road to the park is a small cafe which does breakfast, sandwiches, coffee / drinks ect so a great stop off if your going for a walk or driving past. Would recommend this holiday park & we will visit again if we are coming to the area.
