Hillend Stables is a semi-detached cottage where the interior layout makes an immediate impression. A glass walkway bridges the kitchen to the first bedroom, flooding the space with natural light and creating an unusual connection between cooking and sleeping quarters. Downstairs, an open-plan living area combines sitting room, dining space and kitchen in one fluid arrangement, with a second lounge accessed via patio doors onto a Juliet balcony. Three king bedrooms and two bathrooms mean six guests have room to spread out, with one bedroom offering an ensuite.
Outside, decked areas and landscaped gardens wrap around the property, where a shepherd's hut style sauna and hot tub sit ready for use. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge and microwave—and there is wi-fi throughout. Bed linen and towels come as standard. The property is non-smoking.
Hillend sits on Ayrshire's west coast, within reach of the Ayrshire Coastal Path, Culzean Castle and its country park, and ferries to Cumbrae, Arran and Bute. The village of Skelmorlie, which marks the start of the coastal path, is nearby. Beach is seven and a half miles away; a shop, pub and restaurant all within walking distance.

Absolutely beautiful place, just come back from my hen weekend with friends, had a wonderful time. Accommodated 6 of us. Plenty of space, Access to hot tub and sauna, 30 min walk to station though town.

Brilliant place to stay and perfectly located for exploring Ayrshire. Furniture and furnishings are a bit tired and need upgrading but otherwise it's a very homely property, comfortable, warm and spotlessly clean. A little noisy from the bypass and main road to Kilwinning but once inside the cars could barely be heard. The essentials to get us going were appreciated as was the wine, biscuits, and chocolates. Graham and Julie are super friendly and made us feel very welcome. Looking forward to returning very soon.

Had a fabulous stay at Hillend farmhouse. The house is gorgeous and very comfortable and the owner was very generous supplying biscuits, chocolate, wine and toiletries on arrival. Location is great for exploring with easy access to ferries to Arran and Bute and there are golf courses galore! We loved chilling in the hot tub in the evening and Graham does a fantastic job looking after the property. We stayed for two weeks and we genuinely did not want to leave. Can't wait to stay again in the future.
