Dronfield sits on the edge of the Peak District, where countryside opens into some of England's best-known landscapes. Freebirch Barn occupies a quiet corner of this region, accessed by a private lane that doubles as a public footpath—handy if you want to step straight into the surrounding fields. The barn conversion itself has been finished to a high standard, with solid oak flooring and an ash kitchen topped with granite that handles proper cooking. Downstairs you get a through living room and kitchen area; upstairs, two bedrooms (one double, one twin) and a bathroom with a bath and shower. The essentials are covered: heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all provided.
Three miles away, Chatsworth House and its estate dominate the local map. Baslow village, a ten-minute drive, has pubs, cafes and restaurants, and you can walk straight into Chatsworth Park from there. Bakewell—famous for its Monday market and the river running through its centre—is also close by, and the Monsal Trail for cycling starts within five minutes of town. There's a pub within a mile of the barn itself. The property sleeps four, with private parking for two cars and a bike store. No smoking inside. A cot and highchair are available if you ask when booking.
