Families and small groups will find The Pig Sty well suited to a countryside break. This stone barn conversion sits on a working farm near Cutthorpe, surrounded by fields and woodland with direct access to footpaths, bridleways, Linacre Reservoirs and Holmebrook Country Park. The whole property is yours alone, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms across two floors: a double and a twin (en-suite), plus a family bathroom downstairs. One dog can stay free of charge.

Ground floor is open-plan living and dining, with a wood burner, leather seating and a fully equipped kitchen for cooking proper meals. Upstairs, the double bedroom has countryside views. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included, along with initial fuel for the burner. There's an enclosed garden with patio and barbecue, plus a private hot tub available at extra cost. On-site parking and a bike store are provided, and a shared dog walking field sits within the farm grounds. The property is non-smoking.

From here you can walk straight into the Peak District or drive to attractions across the region. Peacock Inn is nearby for an evening out. Cot and highchair are available if needed.

We stayed in the Pigsty cottage. Mike and Karen were great hosts. The cottage had a lovely hot tub with amazing views over the countryside. Great location for walks around Chatsworth House and the surrounding area.

Just back from a 3 night stay at the Pigsty in Cutthorpe, Chesterfield. We wanted somewhere quiet where we could relax and digitally detox and Green Farm certainly delivered. PRE ARRIVAL We booked the cottage through cottages.com and the experience was very smooth throughout. As well as this the owners also sent an email with helpful tips about the area and supplying an emergency number if needed. ON THE DAY When we arrived the cottage was very clean and I was impressed with all the little touches available, from dishwasher tablets to coffee. It's the little touches that make it feel like a home from home. THE OWNERS It was so lovey talking to the owners (Mike + Karen), learning about their decision to move to the Peak District, but also discuss some common hikes. They were incredibly hospitable and perfect hosts. DOG FRIENDLY We took our spaniel and he was very comfortable, he especially loved running around the enclosed field. He tried to find a way to escape but thankfully no holes in the fence! LOCATION For us it was perfect, The Peacock was about a 10 minute walk with a friendly service and delicious food - it is also dog friendly. Be warned there are no shops in the village so if you're used to local amenities a walk away this isn't the cottage for you. But if you want isolation - it's perfect!

We did not want to come home. Mike and Karen are the best of hosts and couldn't be more helpful, with a warm welcome on our arrival and decorating the cottage for Christmas has kept the festive feeling and is the perfect touch. We stayed in the Tawny Owl Barn which, sleeps 5 with 2 of the bedrooms having en-suite facilities. A log burner in the living room really adds to the atmosphere of an evening and the kitchen is very well equipped. We had a fully enclosed hut-tub in the garden, which was very well used during our stay. There is a store room with a large selection of DVDs, books and games. Including games for use in the field in the summer months. We loved our time at Green Farm Cottages so much that we have already booked to return in 2025.

This was a surprise trip away for my 50th birthday. So wasn't sure what to expect, but this place exceeded all my expectations. A warm and friendly greeting from the owners, where nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the pigsty, and loved the homely feel. The hot tub was an added bonus, which I appreciate so much. Would highly recommend this place. We will definitely return for a longer visit.
