Booked via hoseasons consequently for Allerthorpe however got a call after paying in full that they had increased the prices and I had to pay the difference. Hoseasons relocated our holiday to Brickyards Country Park which on the face of it is stunning, the scenery, quiet & small site looks and felt amazing however it was a nightmare from first arriving. We arrived earlier than the 4pm check in time, was greeted by the rudest receptionist saying we can’t get in until 4- no problem until we get back and they say ‘we have no record you should have received the details from Allerthorpe’ she proceeded to give me a number to call which would have been great- if the signal was good. My husband went back to see if they could give us anymore information and they had left and locked up. Pretty much stranded at this point. I had to drive to find signal in the hope that the email had been sent. When we finally got in the lodge, it wasn’t what we booked, it felt old fashioned rather than the modern lodge we had booked & when looking online it was actually for sale which feels strange renting out a lodge that could be bought at any point….. The first day a giant digger arrived right outside our lodge, which made the whole lodge shake- no idea what they were doing but no prior warning, with 2 children it would have been appreciated. The whole site is unmanned, the hot tub is not maintained and by the 2nd full day (today) is a risk to health. Every other lodge I have been to they have someone coming round and checking the chemicals and making sure it is safe to use. It’s great for owners but less than ideal for rentals/holidays. Hoseasons need to rethink why they have this site as an option as it is less than adequate. Disappointing overall especially when this was booked as a special treat for our wedding anniversary.

We stayed at W09 lodge, booking taken by cottages.com. Entered lodge to fine it had not been cleaned prior to us arriving, sometime after 5 pm.Used towels in the bottom of the shower, bin not emptied, sink with dirty stuff left in, beds not made, windows with finger marks or dogs nose marks, table with brown marks over it. I could go on. I phoned Olivier, who was the contact for the site, who first said he had pictures left by the cleaners, the site had been cleaned, later on in other phone calls he admitted the site hadn’t been cleaned, so we found some clean sheets and later clean towels were delivered and Olivier state the cleaners would come and clean the next day and would leave something as an apology for the site not being visited but nothing was left after the cleaners had been the next day and still issues like windows, tables, still had not been cleaned. The location was good for us as we visited local areas and we were out most of the day, but to not get the very basic stuff done before we had arrived and not compensation for this was disgusting.

DO NOT STAY HERE Terrible communication from the hosts. Two of the doors had big holes in them, the sofa was broken apart from one little bit of it so it made it hard to relax for the both of us, also the half a toilet roll they left had stains on it. There was dried snot on the wall in the shower and the shower was broken/split and so sprayed water everywhere. Also, the cleaners didn’t really leave it very clean, the table wasn’t wiped, cobwebs were around and the floors left our socks filthy. I just think it’s important to let you know to stay away. Waste of money.

Park looks nice but the caravans that are advertised as lodges are not up to scratch, we stayed in w22 and it was not fit to house wild dogs never mind people,if your looking to end your relationship then I would defo recommend booking this particular van! owners, booking.com and the van site clearly dont care about ripping people off, we did not sleep in the van, I payed extra to sleep somewhere else, so if your searching for a nice van look somewhere else and dont be tucked in by the pretty pictures online either, hot tub was a swamp and the whole van had been battered, sent the owner some photos and they never replied which says alot
