Gorgeous location adjacent to the racecourse, so if you like horse racing you can watch it from campsite have your own bbq and drinks!! The site itself is lush green grass and immaculate and the full English at the on-site cafe is fantastic and only £6.50. Steve who runs the site and his wife are lovely and very approachable. Lovely friendly staff, nice and quiet, fantastic disabled facilities. Immaculately clean. 5 mins walk into Thirsk, gorgeous, historic Yorkshire market town with great food, pubs and shops. Will be back!

July 2026: Set at the edge of the race course and close to two supermarkets (200metres) and the lovely town of Thirsk with numerous independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants plus the must see James Herriot museum. The facilities here are basic compared to most other C&MC sites but are clean and well tended. The wardens are exceptionally welcoming and helpful. The grassed sites is mostly undulating but with an appropriate levelling wedge a reasonable pitch can be obtained. Each pitch has its own EHU point. The site seems to have numerous people who return year after year some we spoke to for thirty years.

The 2 stars are for the location, ie, distance into Thirsk, lovely market town. Showers are poorly lit, very cramped, and outdated. Went to use the washing machine but the drawer was completely clogged with old powder, when I mentioned it to a member of staff I was told "it's not ours, it belongs to the racecourse", no offer at all to help sort it, if you are offering this facility it should be in a good, clean condition, after all, we have paid for it. There is a dog walk walk on site, but not secure. Had to leave at 10am due to a race meeting, no problem with that, but only one small grey waste drop for almost 30 motorhomes/caravans. Not somewhere we would return to unfortunately 😕
