Drake Lodge is a single-storey detached property in Staithes, a working fishing village on the Yorkshire coast. Everything needed for a stay is provided—electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included, along with a welcome pack. The lodge sits at the foot of a steep hill in a quiet corner of the village, with private parking for two cars and a small enclosed courtyard.
The whole space is on one level and open-plan: a living area with a 28-inch Freeview TV opens into a dining and kitchen section, where you can cook with an electric oven and hob. There is one double bedroom (4ft 6in bed) and an ensuite shower room with a heated towel rail. The layout suits two people exploring the area for a few days, with a comfortable base to return to after time on the coast or in the North York Moors. No smoking is permitted.
Staithes itself combines working fishing heritage with visitor appeal. The village has cobbled streets, harbourside pubs, shops and cafés, plus an active RNLI station and boats landing fresh crab and lobster daily. There is a small sandy beach, higher ground offering cliff-top walks, and connections to wider Yorkshire coast attractions. The village also hosts an Art and Heritage Festival and has a museum covering local history, including Captain Cook's apprenticeship years there.
