Couples and solo travellers will find Pheasant Lodge a quiet base for the Yorkshire coast. This single-storey detached lodge sits at the foot of a steep hill in Staithes, a working fishing village where cobles still land their catch and the RNLI station remains active. The property is all on the ground floor: an open-plan living area with television and Bluetooth speaker, a kitchen with electric hob and oven for proper cooking, one double bedroom, and a shower room. Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen and towels are covered.
Outside is a small enclosed courtyard with seating and garden furniture, plus parking for one car. Dogs stay free. The village itself is built into high cliffs around a sheltered sandy beach, with cobbled streets and artist studios throughout—there's an annual Art and Heritage Festival and regular workshops. Staithes has pubs, tea rooms and shops along the harbour. The Cleveland Way footpath runs down the cliff to the shore and offers views across the town. Captain Cook served his apprenticeship here, and the village museum covers that history. Birdwatching, fishing and whale-watching boat trips operate from the harbour. No smoking indoors.
