Halfehill Cottage

Richmond's Georgian architecture and medieval castle overlook this corner of North Yorkshire, where the River Swale cuts through open countryside on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Halfehill Cottage sits within the town itself, close enough to the cobbled market square and its restaurants and shops to walk there in minutes, yet positioned to step straight onto the footpaths that lead east and west along the river. The Pennine Way runs nearby; Easby Abbey and its church are an easy riverside walk away.

The cottage spreads across three floors. Upstairs is a double bedroom; the ground floor holds two single beds and a sofa bed in the second bedroom, with a utility room containing a washer-dryer. Both bedrooms have their own shower room. The living space centres on a kitchen-dining room with electric cooking and a dishwasher, opening onto a sitting room with a Smart TV and electric heating. Wifi, bed linen, towels and electricity are all included; there is parking on site for one car. One well-behaved pet can stay at no extra cost.

This works well for walkers and cyclists exploring the Dales, or for families wanting a base within reach of historic houses, National Trust properties and the racecourse at Catterick. The pub is within a mile. No smoking indoors.
