High Bands

Upper Wensleydale draws walkers, families and groups looking for space to spread out. High Bands is a farmhouse a short distance from Gayle village and roughly a mile from Hawes itself, where you'll find a shop, pub and restaurant. The Pennine Way runs within reach if you want to strike out on foot; otherwise, the enclosed grounds and patio are ready for a quieter break.

Five bedrooms sleep up to 14 people across a mix of bed sizes: zip-and-link singles that convert to a super kingsize, three further kingsize or double beds, and a pair of singles with pull-out extras. Ground floor has a separate bedroom, utility room with washer and dryer, and a living space with a woodburner. Three bathrooms (one with shower cubicle, one a wet room, and one en-suite to the main bedroom) mean less queuing. A proper kitchen lets you cook from scratch, and the herb garden provides fresh leaves if you want to forage a little. Oil heating runs throughout, including underfloor on the ground floor; electricity, bed linen and wi-fi are all included.

One dog or cat is welcome to stay free. Outdoor kennels are available if you need daytime housing, and the fenced grounds are secure. A travel cot and highchair can be set up on request. Parking is ample and private, and the patio to the rear and garden furniture to the front give you outdoor space whether you want to cook on the barbecue or simply sit with a view.
