Aysgill Cottage

Aysgill Cottage is a stone-built farmhouse on an elevated site with a working sheep farm as its backdrop. The property sleeps four across two bedrooms—a double and two singles—with one bathroom. It's yours entirely, and one well-behaved dog can stay free of charge. Parking on the farm's own grounds takes up to four cars.

Inside, the living and dining space centres on an open fire, making it the natural gathering point on colder days. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine, so self-catering is straightforward. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are all included. There's a patio with garden furniture looking out over the countryside. No smoking indoors.

The cottage stands on the edge of Gayle village, a mile or so from Hawes, which has independent shops, cafes and a pub within walking distance. Aysgill Waterfall is easily reached on foot, and the immediate area is laced with walking routes—maps and guides are left in the cottage. Sledging is possible on the farm in winter. Families will find a large play park in town, and the Dales Countryside Museum occupies the old railway station.
