Lady De Seton is a cottage within Seaton Hall, a manor house with over a thousand years of recorded history. The building itself speaks to its age: exposed stone walls, high beamed ceilings, and a feature fireplace with a working wood-burner dominate the open-plan ground floor, where the kitchen and living space flow together. The character is tangible—these are the bones of something genuinely old, not a reproduction.

The layout gives you two bedrooms and one bathroom. Downstairs, a double bedroom connects to its own shower room; upstairs, a twin bedroom sits under the eaves. The ground floor bathroom is also accessible from the hallway, useful for guests who don't need the ensuite. The kitchen is equipped for cooking, with a gas oven and hob, dishwasher, and other essentials. A wood-burner, 50-inch smart TV, and heating mean you can stay comfortable through the year. Wifi, bed linen, towels and electricity are included. There's private parking for two cars and a patio in the grounds—which contain a walled moat, a genuine feature of the property.

Staithes is a working fishing village on the coast; the Co-op is on Whitby Road. This suits couples wanting a genuine retreat, or small families and groups of friends seeking somewhere with real depth. It's not a modern holiday let—it's an actual old building with the weight of history in its walls.

Absolutely loved it. Felt like lord of the manor the moment I walked in and ideally located for places like Staithes harbour, Saltburn by the sea, Sandsend and Whitby. Lovely cafe and antiques centre right next door to the accommodation. Would definitely go stay again

We stayed at Lady de Seton cottage, this January. Absolutely beautiful, very quirky and has everything we could possibly need. Very clean and tidy when we arrived, owner William came straight away to check everything was OK The cafe is just next door and we ate there for breakfast. The girls are lovely and very helpful, nothing too much trouble. Rate 100% and will definitely come back.

Just stayed with a party of 20 for my 60th birthday. It was amazing .We had a great time - from my parents who are 92 & 90 years old to my great nephews and niece, it was ideal. We stayed in the hall, the cottage and the annexe. William, the owner, was very welcoming and accommodating allowing us to move furniture to make easier access for my parents. The facilities for cooking were great with plenty of big pots and pans, glasses of all shapes and sizes etc. The beds were comfortable and there is lots of room in and out to relax and have fun.
