The Nest

North Yorkshire

The Nest sits on the third floor of a building virtually on Filey's sand, with the chalk cliffs of Bempton RSPB reserve visible across the water. A single bedroom with a double bed and ensuite bathroom, plus a sofa bed in the open-plan living area, sleeps four. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—electric oven, dishwasher, fridge and microwave included—and there's a TV in both bedroom and living room. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered; a shared laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer is available, and one dog stays free.

Filey itself is a quiet seaside town with a pub within a mile. The beach stretches five miles south and is sheltered by Filey Brigg, a low ridge of rocks. Walking routes radiate outward: the North York Moors steam train runs an 18-mile journey through the Esk Valley; the Cleveland Way and Wolds Way pass through the area; coastal paths lead to Robin Hood's Bay, Whitby and Staithes. Inland, Burton Agnes Hall and Castle Howard are accessible day trips, as are York and the North Yorkshire Wolds. Smoking is not permitted inside. Check-in is after 15:00 and checkout before 10:00.
