The Great Wolds Valley remains relatively undiscovered, a landscape of rolling chalk hills dotted with walking trails and historic sites. The Old Forge sits in this quiet corner of North Yorkshire, a stone building from 1855 that once served the village as a working forge. Now it's a single-storey holiday cottage where original features—natural stone floors, timber beams, a brick fireplace—sit comfortably alongside modern comforts including underfloor heating with individual room controls and a full kitchen with dishwasher.
The property sleeps eight across four bedrooms: two with king-size beds (one with an ensuite shower), and two rooms with single beds each. There are two bathrooms in total. The open-plan living space centres on a wood burner, with a separate dining area and kitchen. Bed linen, towels, logs for the stove and wifi are included. Private parking fits three cars. A pub lies within a mile, and the Wolds themselves offer miles of countryside for walking and cycling. The cottage is not suitable for smoking. Guests typically arrive after 3.30pm and depart by 10am.
