Black Bank House
Northumberland
Black Bank House dates from 1820 and retains the character of a working farmhouse, though now thoroughly updated for modern stays. The detached property sits down a private drive in rural Northumberland, surrounded by gardens and meadows that slope toward the river. Four bedrooms accommodate up to ten guests across two floors: on the ground level, a bedroom with two single beds and shower room; upstairs, two kingsize bedrooms and a fourth room with bunk beds, served by a full bathroom.
The main living spaces are built around a traditional farmhouse kitchen, complete with gas and electric cooking, dishwasher and microwave—everything needed for cooking from scratch or keeping things simple. A woodburner warms the living room, which has a smart TV. Wooden beams and period features run through the house. Patio doors from the kitchen open onto a terrace with garden furniture, which connects to further sitting-out areas among the gardens. Essentials including electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are included; there's also an EV charging point available by arrangement. On-site parking fits three cars.
The location puts you within reach of the Allen Valleys, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the North Pennines, and near the Coast-to-Coast cycle route. The property suits extended family groups and is equipped with a travel cot, highchair and stairgate for younger children, though the gardens include an unprotected drop and a natural water supply via borehole. No smoking inside.
